The phone scam of missing jury duty is going around again. An unidentified caller is making calls informing individuals they have missed jury duty and warrant has been issued for their arrest. The caller is stating they are a deputy with the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office and the warrant needs to be taken care of immediately or jail time is imminent. The caller is telling the individual to go to a store and purchase a large amount of prepaid gift cards and relay the cards’ information over the phone. The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office WILL NOT contact you over the phone if you have missed jury duty or if you have a warrant for your arrest. You will be contacted via mail for jury request or missing of a court date. You will NEVER be asked to process any sort of payment over the phone.
