The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy is for citizens of all backgrounds and occupations. This program is offered as a public service and free of charge. The SOCA is a part of our ongoing efforts to develop citizen awareness and public understanding of the Sheriff’s Office. This 42 hour training program includes both classroom and “hands-on” type instruction. Class topics are organized to give participants an in depth look at the different workings of the Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement as a whole. Classes meet every Thursday night from 6pm-9pm for 14 weeks. Graduates will become better informed citizens in a position to share their experiences with friends and co-workers. Graduates may also join the WCSO Citizens Academy Alumni Association and continue their involvement with the Sheriff’s Office through the association’s volunteer activities.
