Wichita County Deputy Sheriff Ed Daniels is celebrating his 50th year in Law Enforcement today. Deputy Daniels served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was discharged on September 9, 1969. He then began his career with the Texas Department of Public Safety on October 21, 1969. He was promoted to Criminal Intelligence in 1978. He retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety on April 30, 1995.
He became the Chief Deputy of the Archer County Sheriff’s Office on May 1, 1985 and served for eleven months. He was appointed as a Special Texas Ranger in 1996. He served as a Deputy at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office from 1996 to 1999.
He was elected Sheriff of Archer County in 2000. He retired on December 31, 2008. He was again appointed as a Special Texas Ranger in 2008.
He then began his career with the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office on November 19, 2010 as a transport officer. He currently is assigned to the Court House Security Division.
He has been married to his wife Patsy for 52 years. They have one son, Shane and daughter in law Stephanie. He has one grandson, Jacob and one granddaughter Zoe.He likes working on his antique pickup and hunting and fishing. He also enjoys spending time with his wife.
