On November 4, 2017, at approximately 1:28 p.m., a Wichita County K-9 Interdiction Deputy along with his K-9 partner Cane conducted a traffic stop on US 287 South and Burnett Ranch Rd for a traffic violation. During the stop, the deputy observed several signs of criminal activity. The 64 year old driver consented to a vehicle search. During the search, the deputy located over 80 pounds of high grade marijuana concealed within the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Wichita County Detention Center where she was charged with Possession of Marijuana Over 50 pounds/ Under 2000 pounds, a second degree felony. The estimated value of the high grade marijuana is over $360,000 dollars.
