On 23 April 2016 at approximately 1630 hours, a Wichita County K9 Interdiction Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at US Hwy 287 South and Hwy 25 for a traffic stop violation. After speaking with the driver of the vehicle and observing signs of criminal activity, the deputy asked the driver for consent to search his car. The driver gave verbal consent for deputies to search his vehicle.  A search of the vehicle revealed a package wrapped in duct tape, concealed in a hidden compartment inside the vehicle. The package contained a brown powdered substance that tested positive for Heroin.  The 39 year old male driver was placed under arrest. The suspect vehicle was transported to a secured location and further searched. Deputies located three additional packages also concealed in hidden compartments inside the vehicle. The additional packages also contained a brown powdered substance that tested positive for Heroin. The four packages yielded over 2.5 pounds of Heroin with a street value of over $170,000 dollars. The Narcotics and Hispanic male were released to the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) pending further investigation.
