Daily Crime Brief, May 30, 2016

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 4:39 am, Deputy Brandon Mason responded to the 1600 block of 11th Street to assist a Department of Public Safety Trooper with a combative prisoner.  The 45-year-old male was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 12:05 am, Deputy David Stout made a traffic stop in the 5200 block of Tower.  The 39-year-old male driver was barred from the property.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 12:35 am, Corporal Jeff Penney and Deputy Troy Glover stopped an individual walking at the intersection of North 7th and North Broadway.  The 18-year-old male was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 1:20 am, Deputy Brandon Mason and Deputy Cole McGarry responded to the 400 block of Dove Lane in reference to a possible gun shot.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) fired a shot at his dog grazing the dog’s leg.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 10:44 am, Deputy Brett Brasher attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Kemp and Ave. L.  The vehicle was finally stopped went it left the roadway and struck a building in the 2800 block of Kell Blvd. West.  The driver then fled the scene.  The 30-year-old male driver was located a short time later in the 3100 block of Ave. R.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle-Enhanced, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 over four grams under two hundred gram and an outstanding warrant for Parole Violation.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 5:12 pm, Corporal Ralph Burdick and Deputy Amanda Price made a traffic stop at the intersection of Denver and Wilson.  The vehicle was impounded due to the driver not having insurance on the vehicle.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 10:44 am, Deputy Brett Brasher made a traffic stop at the intersection of Blonde and Holliday.  The 51-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with three outstanding warrants for Capias Pro Fine-Expired Operators License, Capias Pro Fine-Expired Motor Vehicle Registration and Capias Pro Fine-Outdoor Storage Violation.

On Saturday May 28, at approximately 2:55 pm, Deputy Brian Koschak responded to the 1500 block of Rathgeber Road in reference to a Credit/Debit Card Abuse.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) made several unauthorized charges on her Credit/Debit Card.

On Sunday May 29, at approximately 1:01 am, Sergeant Mark Whipple, Deputy Cole McGarry and Deputy Brandon Mason responded to the 8100 block of Headquarters Road in reference to a Disturbance.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that two persons had been assaulted by two subjects.

On Sunday May 29, at approximately 2:52 am, Sergeant Mark Whipple made a traffic stop at the intersection of Headquarters Road and Kamay Road.  The 46-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On Sunday May 29, at approximately 11:11 am, Corporal Josh Brown and Deputy Jeff Lee responded to 2504 Arena Road in reference to a Deceased Person.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that a deceased male was found near the open dance area of the Rodeo Grounds.  It was later learned that the 26-year-old male have been involved in an accident on 5-28-16 at approximately 12:00 am.  His vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree.  He had left the scene of the accident prior to officer’s arrival.  The male was transported to Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy.

On Sunday May 29, at approximately 9:05 pm, Sergeant Lee Crossman and Deputy Amanda Price made a traffic stop at the intersection of 9th and Brook.  The 39-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While License Invalid-Enhanced.

On Tuesday May 24, at approximately 11:00 am, Sergeant Sergio Teruel responded to the 8900 block of F.M. 368 north in reference to an Animal Complaint.

On Tuesday May 24, at approximately 6:40 am, Lieutenant Patrick McFerrin and Corporal Jeff Penney responded to the 1300 block of S.H. 79 in reference to a Disturbance.  A 21-year-old female was barred from the property.

On Wednesday May 25, at approximately 1:25 am, Corporal Jeff Penney made a traffic stop at the intersection of Kemp Blvd. and Seymour Hwy.  An 18-year-old male passenger was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

On Wednesday May 25, at approximately 4:31 pm, Corporal Ralph Burdick made a traffic stop in the 600 block of Pleasant View.  The 23-year-old female driver was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 3.

On Wednesday May 25, at approximately 6:12 pm, a Wichita County Highway interdiction Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Business 287 near Fisher Road.  The vehicle was finally stopped after a high speed pursuit when it crashed on the Sheppard Access Road exit near Spur 325.  The 33-year-old male driver (Makara Ponn) fled on foot and was placed under arrest after he was located in a wooded area approximately 200 feet away from the vehicle.  A 28-year-old female passenger (Tiffany Henderson) was also placed under arrest.  They were transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and were charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana over four ounces under five pounds and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 under one gram.  $75,000.00 in currency, five ounces of marijuana and one half gram of heroin was seized.

On Thursday May 26, at approximately 1:05 am, Corporal Jeff Penney made a traffic stop at the intersection of 13th and Indiana.  The 53-year-old female driver was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 under one gram, Unlawful Carrying of Weapon and two outstanding warrants for No Drivers License in Possession and Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

Sheriff’s Posse Holding Cookout for Officer in Need

The Wichita County Sheriff’s Posse will be holding a fundraiser cookout Wednesday May 25th to help a fellow officer. The fundraiser will help  Lieutenant Daryl Bonnin, an 18 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, with ongoing medical expenses.  The posse will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks.  Come help an officer that has spent so much time helping this county.  The cookout will be on the front lawn of the courthouse, if weather does not permit the cookout will be moved to the county parking garage located at 7th and Indiana.  For more information contact Deputy Melvin Joyner or Deputy Brien Conner 940-766-8170.

On Friday May 20, at approximately 10:27 pm, Deputy David Stout made a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Sheppard Access Road.  The 38-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

On Friday May 20, at approximately 11:33 pm, Corporal Jeff Penney and Deputy Cole McGarry responded to the 9100 block of Sandy Road in reference to a Disturbance.  Upon arrival, a 27-year-old male was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with two outstanding warrants for PR Bond Cancelled-Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 less than one gram in a Drug Free Zone and PR Bond Cancelled-Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 over four grams under two hundred grams.

On Friday May 20, at approximately 2:15 am, Corporal Jeff Penney made a traffic stop in the 3400 block of Kemp Blvd.  The 24-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Failure to Identify-Fugitive from Justice, Possession of Marijuana under two ounces and seven outstanding warrants for Possession of Marijuana under two ounces, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to stop at designated point, two counts of No Drivers License in Possession, and two counts of Driving While License Invalid.

On Friday May 20, at approximately 8:20 pm, Deputy Christopher Salas responded to the 800 block of Huntington Lane in reference to a Credit/Debit Card Abuse.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) made an unauthorized purchase on his Credit/Debit Card in the amount of $702.54.

On Saturday May 21, at approximately 11:38 pm, Deputy Roy Biter and Deputy Amanda Price made a traffic stop at the intersection of Yale and Galveston.  The 20-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

On Saturday May 21, at approximately 10:13 pm, Deputy Christopher Salas made a traffic stop at the intersection of Maurine and Central Frwy.  The 36-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 over one gram under four grams, Eluding and two outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

On Saturday May 21, at approximately 8:18 pm, Deputy Josh McGuinn attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Iowa Park Road and Sheppard Access Road.  The vehicle was stopped in the 1400 block of Industrial Drive.  The 55-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Fleeing or attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Harassment.

On Saturday May 21, at approximately 12:24 am, Corporal Jeff Penney, Deputy J.T. Mitchell and Deputy Matthew Schenck made a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Ashton Road.  The 18-year-old male driver and an 18-year-old male passenger were placed under arrest.  They were transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and were charged with Possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

On Sunday May 22, at approximately 3:27 pm, Deputy Josh McGuinn made a traffic stop in the 400 block of F.M. 1740.  The 21-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On Monday May 16, at approximately 9:48 pm, Deputy David Stout made a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Scott.  The 34-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 under one gram and an outstanding warrant for Criminal Trespass.

On Monday May 16, at approximately 3:30 pm, Sergeant Lee Crossman responded to the 100 block of Pecanway Drive in reference to a Hit and Run.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) struck her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway.

On Monday May 16, at approximately 10:50 pm, Deputy Cole McGarry and Deputy Roy Biter responded to the Electra Police Department in reference to a possible attempted suicide.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that a subject had taken an overdose of prescription medications and that he had been transported to United Regional Health Care and was admitted.

Interdiction Deputy Makes Large Hash Bust

On Friday May 13, at approximately 3:11 pm, a Wichita County Highway Interdiction Deputy made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Midway Church Road. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle at which time 30 lbs. of pure hash oil, wax and paste valued at $650,000.00 was seized. The 26-year-old male driver was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 2 over 400 grams.
