Daily Crime Brief, March 15, 2016

On Monday March 14, at approximately 8:16 am, Corporal Josh Brown responded to the 5500 block of Turkey Ranch Road in reference to a damaged U.S. Mailbox.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) backed into the mail box for the property.

On Monday March 14, at approximately 11:32 am, Deputy Jeff Lee made a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Seymour Hwy.  The 19-year-old female driver was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 3 under 28 grams.

On Monday March 14, at approximately 7:27 pm, Sergeant Lee Crossman and Deputy Christopher Salas responded to the 900 block of Schmoker Road in reference to a Disturbance.  Upon arrival, a 55-year-old male was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Assault/Family Violence.

On Tuesday March 15, at approximately 2:53 am, Lieutenant William Rutledge checked on an unoccupied vehicle in the 700 block of Baylor.  The vehicle was found to have a fictitious registration tag and window decal.

On Friday March 11, at approximately 9:49 am, Deputy Paul Casillas made a traffic stop at the intersection of I-44 and Airport.  The 33-year-old male driver was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Friday March 11, at approximately 4:10 pm, Deputy Josh McGuinn responded to 900 7th Street in reference to an Identity Theft.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that a subject used his identifying information in setting up a construction company.

On Saturday March 12, at approximately 11:34 pm, Sergeant Lee Crossman, Deputy David Stout and Deputy Josh McGuinn responded to the 3400 block of F.M. 1206 in reference to a Disturbance.  Upon arrival, a 35-year-old male was barred from the property.

On Saturday March 12, at approximately 1:26 pm, Deputy Justin Mitchell made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Peterson Road.  The 35-year-old male driver and a 31-year-old female passenger were placed under arrest.  They were transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and were charged with Possession of Marijuana over fifty pounds under two thousand pounds.  79.6 pounds of marijuana and $3,000.00 in currency was seized.

On Saturday March 12, at approximately 2:12 am, Deputy Jeff Lee checked on an unoccupied vehicle at the intersection of McNiel and Kell Blvd.  The vehicle was impounded after the owner could not be located.

On Saturday March 12, at approximately 8:00 pm, Sergeant Lee Crossman and Deputy Amanda Price made a traffic stop at the intersection of F.M. 369 and F.M. 367.  The 50-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On Saturday March 12, at approximately 10:30 pm, Deputy David Stout responded to the intersection of U.S. 287 and Burnett Ranch Road to assist the Texas Department of Public Safety with a traffic stop.

On Sunday March 13, at approximately 4:51 pm, Deputy Christopher Salas made a traffic stop at the intersection of Wellington Lane and Iowa Park Road.  The 48-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

On Thursday March 10, at approximately 2:45 am, Deputy Gabriel Villarreal made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and S.H. 25.  The 21-year-old male driver and a 27-year-old male passenger were placed under arrest.  They were transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and were charged with Possession of Marijuana over four ounces under five pounds.  Two and one half pounds of high grade marijuana was seized.

On Friday March 11, at approximately 2:44 am, Deputy Greg Wilson made a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Southwest Parkway.  The 22-year-old female driver was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On Tuesday March 8, at approximately 1:51 am, Deputy Jeff Lee made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Kell East.  The 21-year-old female driver was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 2:20 am, Deputy Justin Mitchell made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and S.H. 25.  The 43-year-old male driver was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 1:50 am, Corporal Jeff Penney made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Kell West.  The 45-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled substance PG 1 under one gram, Possession of Marijuana under two ounces and an outstanding warrant for Speeding.

On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 1:08 am, Deputy Jeff Lee made a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Southwest Parkway.  The 22-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana under two ounces, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 3 under 28 grams and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 over four grams under 400 grams.

On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 2:15 am, Deputy Justin Mitchell made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and S.H. 25.  The 50-year-old male driver was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 6:29 pm, Deputy Gabriel Villarreal made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Midway Church Road.  The 37-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and charged with Possession of Marijuana over fifty pounds under two thousand pounds.  70 pounds of marijuana and $1,136.00 in currency was seized.

On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 1:10 pm, Lieutenant Robert Penaluna arrested a 23-year-old male in the 900 block of 7th Street for an outstanding warrant for Theft of Service over $100.00 under $500.00.  Upon reaching the Detention Center entrance, the subject fled on foot. He was placed under arrest on the north side of the courthouse.  He was transported back to the Detention Center and was charged with Escape.

March 8, 2016 Jail Update

If you have a family member, friend, or client currently incarcerated in the Wichita County Jail, please call the Sheriff’s Office (766-8170) before showing up for visitation. Several inmates have been moved to nearby counties due to the closure of housing areas. These housing areas are likely to remain closed until the chances for rain pass this weekend.

Due to the increased attention on issues facing in the Wichita County Jail, and in light of the above, this short video taken today is a sample of another difficulty the county faces in housing prisoners in the Wichita County Jail Annex.

Daily Crime Brief, March 7, 2016

On Friday March 4, at approximately 12:31 am, Deputy Greg Wilson made traffic stop in the 2500 block of Ave K.  Th27-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated-2nd Offense with open container, Driving While License Invalid-Enhanced and Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle.

On Friday March 4, at approximately 3:45 pm, Deputy Josh McGuinn responded to 900 7th in reference to an Assault.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that he had been assaulted by a subject while in the 1100 block of Business 287.

On Saturday March 5, at approximately 2:38 am, Deputy Greg Wilson checked on a subject that was walking in the 1800 block of Sheppard Access Road. The 24-year-old male was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Public Intoxication.

On Saturday March 5, at approximately 10:09 pm, Deputy Christopher Salas made a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Iowa Park Road.  The 34-year-old male driver and a 27-year-old female passenger were placed under arrest.  They were transported to the Wichita County Detention Center.  The driver was charged with two outstanding warrants for Bail Jumping/Failure to Appear and Expired/No Drivers License.  The female was charged with an outstanding warrant for Capias Profine-Driving While Intoxicated.

On Saturday March 5, at approximately 1:44 am, Sergeant Mark Whipple made a traffic stop at the intersection of Callfield and Prothro.  The 42-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On Saturday March 5, at approximately 2:34 am, Deputy J.T. Mitchell checked on an individual that was walking in the 1800 block of Sheppard Access Road.  The 47-year-old male was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Public Intoxication.

On Saturday March 5, at approximately 11:05 pm, Corporal Jeff Penney made a traffic stop at the intersection of Kell East and Brook.  The 29-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 over four grams under 200 grams and an outstanding warrant for Theft under $50.00.

On Sunday March 6, at approximately 1:11 am, Deputy Jeff Lee made a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Midwestern Pkwy.  The 25-year-old male driver was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Sunday March 6, at approximately 7:43 am, Deputy Kristian Valdez responded to the 800 block of Peterson Road South in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) forced entry into an enclosed trailer and stole two Paslode 30 degree strip nailers valued at $600.00, two Hitachi Decking Staple Guns valued at $800.00 and a 4500 watt Predator Generator valued at $600.00.

On Saturday March 6, at approximately 11:52 pm, Deputy Jeff Lee made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Kell.  The 29-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Driving While License Invalid-Enhanced.

On Monday March 7, at approximately 1:44 am, Deputy J.T. Mitchell made a traffic stop in the 1900 block of 9th Street.  An 18-year-old female passenger was placed under arrest.  She was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 under one gram.

 On Monday March 7, at approximately 12:53 am, Lieutenant William Rutledge checked on an unoccupied vehicle parked in a parking lot at the intersection of Iowa Park Road and F.M. 369.  The vehicle was found to be stolen.

On Tuesday March 1, at approximately 3:59 pm, Deputy Cole McGarry responded to 610 Holliday in reference to a Threat.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that a subject threatened to harm her.

On Wednesday March 2, at approximately 1:40 pm, Deputy Gabriel Villarreal made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 287 and S.H. 25.  The 35-year-old male driver and a 28-year-old female passenger were issued warnings.

On Wednesday March 2, at approximately 1:16 pm, Lieutenant Carl Magee, Sergeant Sergio Teruel and Deputy Kristian Valdez responded to the 6000 block of Seymour Hwy. in reference to a Structure Fire.  Upon arrival, the mobile home was found fully engulfed in fire.  The fire was ruled to be accidental.

On Wednesday March 2, at approximately 4:00 pm, Deputy Ken Terry responded to 900 7th Street in reference to Debit Card Abuse.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that an unknown person(s) made two unauthorized purchases in the amount of $43.98 on his Debit Card.

Jail Update

Due to the increased attention on issues facing in the Wichita County Jail, this is the first in a series of short updates to help inform Wichita County citizens about their jail.

On Monday February 29, at approximately 11:30 am, Deputy Brian Koschak made a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Iowa Park Road.  The 28-year-old male driver was issued citation for No Drivers License and Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility.  The vehicle was impounded.

On Monday February 29, at approximately 11:24 am, Deputy Brian Koschak responded to the 1500 block of Hatcher in reference to an Assault.  Upon arrival, the Reporting Person reported that he was assaulted by a subject while on F.M. 369.

On Monday February 29, at approximately 2:23 pm, Deputy Christopher Barnett made a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 82 and F.M. 368.  The 24-year-old male driver was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana over two ounces under four ounces.

On Tuesday March 1, at approximately 2:04 am, Corporal Jeff Penney checked on an occupied vehicle in the alley in the 700 block of Baylor.
